As a 12-fret guitar, Savoy is both compact and places the bridge in the ‘sweet spot’ of the lower bout but also offers you full fretboard access via the unique Blackbird ‘dual’ cutaway— the back is sculpted away for access to the highest frets. Eastman's Double Top Series feature an innovative take on the classic flat top design. With a unique modification to their top tonewoods, these guitars are more resonant, responsive, and feature better note clarity and balance. The Double Top models feature a pair of one-millimetre-thin spruce slices that are adjoined by Nomex. The latter is a honeycomb-like resinous substance – patented by DuPont – that was originally designed for use in the aerospace industry. It functions as a rigid wall between the two spruce pieces, adding on layers of density and depth. Yet, the added density does not compromise the guitars’ lightness and sonic range.
