Silver Street, Inc. was incorporated in June 1979, started by Bruce and Craig Hardy. Apparantly it was named after the street where Bruce Hardy lived at the time. Bruce Hardy designed the Taxi Guitar in 1981 featuring a full scale, and shipped with a gig bag that allowed it to be transported in a NY City taxi. The Taxi's innovative design was the subject of a U.S. patent application filed in 1981, granted in 1983. Five prototypes were built by legendary luthier Richard Schneider, who was a Gibson guitar consultant at the time. Production of solid-body guitars started in 1983, and ended by 1986. This Custom Eastman 00 is based on Gibson's LG2 / B25 shape and size, but thanks to the Thermo Cured Adirondack top, premium Mahogany back and sides, and Vintage Varnish finish, we feel that tonally this guitar has a richer, fuller, and cleaner voice and is more responsive than what you would expect from the Gibson, making it a much more versatile instrument. This full custom BTO Grand Auditorium was ordered by us at our last visit to the Taylor factory. The Macassar Ebony back and sides were hand picked by me from the Taylor premium stack, as was this amazing piece of Sinker Redwood. As you can see the results are gorgeous but as good as this guitar looks it's the tone that will win you over. This instrument is as responsive as an acoustic can get but it has enough headroom to take the most aggressive strumming you can throw at it. The tone is rich and balanced with plenty of projection.
