In 1933, Martin made, at the request of the then famous country & western star Gene Autry, its first D-45. Perhaps, the most famous '45 ever made, it now stands in the Autry Western heritage Museum in CA. In 1994, Martin released a very successful limited replica edition. Like the original, features a 12 fret neck with slotted peghead. The label is signed by both Gene Autry and C.F. Martin IV and numbers the guitar as 30 out of 66 made. There were 2 versions, one with the signature at the 12th fret and the other with original bold signature along the length of the fingerboard, which is what we have here.
