This BTO was inspired by our love for the simple pre war guitars of days gone by so we chose satin finished Mahogany for the back and sides and for the soundboard but dressed it up with Rosewood binding and Ebony fretboard and bridge. We based this Custom Shop Martin on the discontinued Vintage series 000-28VS but changed the neck to modified low oval with 1-3/4" nut and 2-1/4" saddle spacing which translates to a more versatile and more playable acoustic for most folks. This is one of the rare Custom Shop 0000's Dick Boak dubbed the M5 and it is this guitar that was the inspiration for the Jorma M30 signature model. This was supposed to be a run of 14 guitars but we are told only 7 were completed, one of which Dick Boak lent to Jorma who fell in love with the guitar instantly. Jorma ended up buying that borrowed M5, and during his next visit to Martin he and Dick drew up the specs for a slightly watered down version of the M5 that became the M30 Jorma signature model. The Laney LA30D is a compact acoustic combo amplifier that is packed for performance and designed specifically for acoustic instruments such as acoustic-electric guitars.
