The tight-grained redwood tops were sliced from old-growth logs reclaimed from the bottom of a California river, whose mineral-rich river bed infused the wood with an array of color hues. Sonically, redwood blends the warm overtone complexity of cedar with the attacking power of spruce, while ebony yields some of rosewood’s bell-like fidelity but with the more linear output of maple. The magic here is in the fusion of these tonal nuances with a 12-fret Grand Auditorium body.
