Taylor’s sleek, easy-playing necks make for an incredibly smooth 12-string experience. The 556ce features mahogany back and sides with a top of Lutz spruce, a natural hybrid of Sitka and White spruce that resembles Adirondack spruce in its robust tonal output. The wood combo, together with the Grand Symphony body and Taylor’s internal Performance bracing, will yield a wonderfully balanced 12-string voice that blends tonal power, depth and articulation into a dynamic package that’s equally responsive to a light or lively strumming attack. A Venetian cutaway offers easy access to the guitar’s upper register octave shimmer, while Taylor’s proprietary Expression System® 2 electronics parlay all that musical detail into a well-defined amplified 12-string sound. This full custom BTO Grand Auditorium was ordered by us at our last visit to the Taylor factory. The Macassar Ebony back and sides were hand picked by me from the Taylor premium stack, as was this amazing piece of Sinker Redwood. As you can see the results are gorgeous but as good as this guitar looks it's the tone that will win you over. This instrument is as responsive as an acoustic can get but it has enough headroom to take the most aggressive strumming you can throw at it. The tone is rich and balanced with plenty of projection.
