This is a 1980 Gurian 3H-S3R. Gurian Guitars was a manufacturer of high quality acoustic guitars based in New York City, then Hinsdale, New Hampshire and finally West Swanzey, New Hampshire, from the 1960s to 1981. The guitars were designed by luthier Michael Gurian who also supervised production. The company was one of the earliest "boutique" guitar brands in the United States, offering an alternative product to those of the larger, factory-based makers of the day, with instruments characterized by a distinctive shape, features and sound. The S3R is a mid-sized instrument with plenty of power, brilliance and sustain. This size is quite versatile, an excellent choice for solo or accompaniment. The Size 3 model has become a favorite for recording work thanks to it's balanced tone. Silver Street, Inc. was incorporated in June 1979, started by Bruce and Craig Hardy. Apparantly it was named after the street where Bruce Hardy lived at the time. Bruce Hardy designed the Taxi Guitar in 1981 featuring a full scale, and shipped with a gig bag that allowed it to be transported in a NY City taxi. The Taxi's innovative design was the subject of a U.S. patent application filed in 1981, granted in 1983. Five prototypes were built by legendary luthier Richard Schneider, who was a Gibson guitar consultant at the time. Production of solid-body guitars started in 1983, and ended by 1986. A bit of history about the Taxi model. The first guitar made for Tommy Shaw was in "Pepto Bismol" Pink, and later a Tommy Shaw model ws built.
