  3. Santa Cruz Custom OO Model #689
    Sold

Santa Cruz Custom OO Model #689

The SCGC OO is an ergonomic delight. This instrument delivers ease of playability and surprising volume for its size. Certainly not just a smaller version of the OOO, the OO is a specialized tool onto itself. The 12-fret body and 24-3/4 inch string length tunes to pitch at lower string tension, making the action supple while requiring less of a stretch between frets. The size and voicing of the OO give it an exceptionally balanced EQ with a wonderful complex tone and remarkable projection. This serious instrument is surprisingly loud. The OO’s portability makes it an excellent companion for composing and recording, and its sophisticated voice encourages players to explore undiscovered fretboard possibilities. Holding this guitar just feels right. Learn More

  8. Santa Cruz 1929 / 000
    Pre-Owned

    Santa Cruz 1929 / 000

The OOO is the full sized version of the 1929 Model series. A longer, 25.375 inch scale for additional volume and bass make it a worthy ensemble instrument. You will find the same simple and elegant aesthetics of the 1929-O and 1929-OO versions. The master grade True Mahogany top is correctly dimensioned and hand voiced for a full and complex presence, and the elements for an heirloom guitar are all in place. The 1929-OOO's look includes a period correct script logo done tastefully in Ivoroid. Classic Ebony complements the pyramid bridge, tuner buttons, head-plate and fretboard. An appropriately simple rosette is inlaid with a rich faux tortoise shell celluloid ring in a vintage Ivoroid border. The 1929-OOO Model has all the exceptional presence and playability that you would expect from the Santa Cruz stable of state of the art acoustic guitars Learn More

  10. Santa Cruz RS Slope Shoulder Jumbo
    Sold

Santa Cruz RS Slope Shoulder Jumbo

This is an SCGC RS model which is Richard Hoovers interpretation of a vintage Gibson jumbo. For these slope shoulder jumbos SCGC uses perfectly quarter sawn, narrow, stiff, spruce brace stock, and then they double taper it. The first taper extends out beyond the bridge plate and then the second taper drops to the linings. This heavily knifed bracing style is something unique to Santa Cruz developed exclusively to create the woody, dry, explosive tone that the old Gibsons were prized for. It creates a light low mass brace, while not losing the snap and explosiveness that can be the result of a scalloped bracing design. Learn More

  11. Santa Cruz H13 2017 #627
    Sold

    Santa Cruz H13 2017 #627

2017 Santa Cruz H13. What’s up with thirteen frets? The historical precedent for this classic shape was the Gibson ‘Nick Lucas Special’ from the 1920’s and ’30’s, the one Bob Dylan holds in early photos. The “H” designation is an acknowledgment to the guardian of the lore of all things vintage and stringed, Maestro Paul Hostetter, who commissioned SCGC to build the prototype in 1978. In spite of the question of whether the historic 13 frets to the body had any basis in acoustic science, our reason for using it does. SCGC’s concept for the H-13 is to achieve power beyond what would be expected in a small-bodied guitar. Two fundamental lutherie tricks make this possible: a longer string length (more downward pressure at the saddle) and more air space via a deeper body (increased volume and bass response). To place the bridge in the optimal position for power and maintain the longer string length, the neck needs to join the body at the 13th fret. Cool, huh? This is a gorgeous classic with power and presence expected from a much larger instrument. Perfect for aggressive fingerstyle blues and vocal accompaniment, the H-13 feels really sweet to hold.
