This is a mint Custom Collings 01 MH VN All Mahogany 0 14-Fret. With the exception of the Baby, the 0 is the smallest guitar made by Collings, and is offered with the same shorter scale found on the 12-fret 00. Although measuring only 13.5 inches in width (smaller than a typical classical guitar), the Collings 0 has tone and volume that belies its first impression as being less than full-sized. The MINSTREL, like the Tupelo, gives a warm and woody Old-Timey sound. With a scrolled peg head and Mother-of-Pearl shell inlay in the Frailing scoop, this model is fashioned after the American Antebellum banjos. The 2-ply solid Maple rim is 9/16” thick and is capped with black Ebonite and bound with simulated Tortoise shell. A varnish finish is hand-rubbed generously and then sealed. The OME 12” maple Tone Rim construction combined with less brackets and wood rim-rod produce our “woodiest” Old-Time banjo tone.
