  1. Santa Cruz RS Slope Shoulder Jumbo
    Sold

Santa Cruz RS Slope Shoulder Jumbo

This is an SCGC RS model which is Richard Hoovers interpretation of a vintage Gibson jumbo. For these slope shoulder jumbos SCGC uses perfectly quarter sawn, narrow, stiff, spruce brace stock, and then they double taper it. The first taper extends out beyond the bridge plate and then the second taper drops to the linings. This heavily knifed bracing style is something unique to Santa Cruz developed exclusively to create the woody, dry, explosive tone that the old Gibsons were prized for. It creates a light low mass brace, while not losing the snap and explosiveness that can be the result of a scalloped bracing design. Learn More

Silver Street Taxi Electric Travel Guitar

Silver Street, Inc. was incorporated in June 1979, started by Bruce and Craig Hardy. Apparantly it was named after the street where Bruce Hardy lived at the time. Bruce Hardy designed the Taxi Guitar in 1981 featuring a full scale, and shipped with a gig bag that allowed it to be transported in a NY City taxi. The Taxi's innovative design was the subject of a U.S. patent application filed in 1981, granted in 1983. Five prototypes were built by legendary luthier Richard Schneider, who was a Gibson guitar consultant at the time. Production of solid-body guitars started in 1983, and ended by 1986. A bit of history about the Taxi model. The first guitar made for Tommy Shaw was in "Pepto Bismol" Pink, and later a Tommy Shaw model ws built. Guitar who played the Taxi include Paul Warren fomr Prism, Mike Reno from Loverboy, Michael Stanley, Chris Hayes of Huey Lewis and the News, Craig Chaquico of Jefferson Starship, and Rick Springfield who bought three and actually used one on an MTV video. 5. Gibson SG Vintage 1965 / 1967
    Sold

    Gibson SG Vintage 1965 / 1967

When Gibson revamped the Les Paul Standard of 1958-’60 into the Les Paul/SG of 1961 (later simply SG Standard), it introduced a wealth of features that continue to appeal to a wide range of players, long after the reintroduction of the single-cutaway model that it was intended to supercede, many of which are shared by today’s SG Special and SG Standard. The solid mahogany body was thinner and lighter than any solidbody Gibson had produced before, and it still provided a wealth of rich, warm, woody resonance, but with a little extra snap and zing to the tone — all without the back ache Learn More
