To combine the stability and robustness of carbon fiber with the traditional aesthetics of wood, RainSong has developed SFT: Soundboard Fusion Technology. After careful experimentation, we are able to fuse a thin spruce soundboard and a unidirectional pre-impregnated carbon in a single molding step. The resulting SFT soundboard is a composite matrix that resonates as a single unit, like a solid wood soundboard. The physical properties of the carbon fiber far exceed those of the thin wood. Hence the SFT soundboard maintains the imperviousness to humidity and temperature of carbon fiber. An SFT soundboard delivers rich carbon sound colored by wood. The GT (Grand Theater) features a scaled-down body that echoes the jumbo curves of our Grand Orchestra shape, with its dimensions reduced to create a remarkably approachable feel. The innovation extends to the GT’s interior architecture, built on a new asymmetrical bracing design called C-Class bracing. This new sonic structure brings the tonal benefits of V-Class bracing to the smaller GT body shape, producing more volume and longer sustain while also bolstering the GT’s bass response to surprising levels of low-end power from a smaller guitar.
