The Laney LA30D is a compact acoustic combo amplifier that is packed for performance and designed specifically for acoustic instruments such as acoustic-electric guitars. LA30D’s two independent input channels both offer the choice of balanced XLR or unbalanced 1/4” inputs and both can have digital reverb assigned to them as required. For his Signature model Al Peteway chose the OM size body for it's the perfect size for solo fingerstyle players. The frequency response is more evenly balanced across the strings and the high strings have a sweetness that doesn't happen with a bigger guitar. It's much easier to mix in an ensemble or duet setting as well. Since I play with my wife Amy White much of the time, we like to set up her guitar to produce the big bass bottom while I fill in more of the mids and highs. It makes for a much cleaner sound. In light of his ever-expanding reputation and fan base, Martin collaborated with John Mayer on the creation of a second namesake guitar, one with many of the same attributes as his first OM-28JM Limited Edition, but one that would be more affordable and more widely available in the tradition of the popular Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton model. This tasteful Orchestra Model exhibits versatility for today's diverse contemporary musical styles. Like its predecessor, the OMJM John Mayer Special Edition features a top of Engelmann spruce and back and sides of East Indian rosewood for warm, rich tone. Scalloped "Hybrid" bracing enhances the full timbre of this tonewood combination. Body appointments are also similar, with a Style 45 rosette featuring a center ring of colorful paua shell, bold herringbone around the top, black/white back purfling around the back, grained ivoroid binding throughout, an HD Style zigzag back strip, and a traditional OM teardrop polished and beveled tortoise pickguard. The Spanish cedar neck with diamond volute is carved with playing comfort in mind, combining 1-11/16" width and low profile shape for easy fretting. The East Indian rosewood headplate sports Martin's Old Style decal in silver rather than the familiar gold (another nod to the OM-28JM John Mayer Signature Edition) and nickel Gotoh open-geared tuners with butterbean knobs. Style 45 white bridge pins and endpin are inlaid with abalone dots. We based this Custom Shop Martin on the discontinued Vintage series 000-28VS but changed the neck to modified low oval with 1-3/4" nut and 2-1/4" saddle spacing which translates to a more versatile and more playable acoustic for most folks.
