The Grand Pacific 317, featuring our new round-shoulder dreadnought body voiced with Taylor’s award-winning V-Class bracing, helps usher in a whole new Taylor sound. Notes blend smoothly together to produce a warm and seasoned acoustic voice with clear low-end power. Built with solid sapele back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top, the guitar’s tonal response sits comfortably between the dry, focused character of mahogany and the harmonically complex sound of rosewood. The body’s wider waist helps produce a strong bass response, but without the woofiness that can sometimes plague bigger-body guitars. This Grand Pacific model is the first of our round-shoulder dreadnoughts to feature back and sides of solid ovangkol, an African tonewood that shares rosewood’s warmth and brilliance with additional presence in the midrange. Topped with solid spruce, the AD17 serves up a blend of sparkle and clean low-end power, enhanced by V-Class bracing for greater volume, longer sustain, and a more in-tune sound. That seasoned, vintage-hued tone is reflected in this model’s strikingly classic look, with a natural top and a deep Urban Sienna color treatment for the ovangkol back and sides. Minimally decorated but finely crafted, the AD17 also features chamfered body edges, stained spruce edge trim, a three-ring rosette in Hawaiian koa, and a faux tortoiseshell pickguard. The 2.0 mil-thick matte body finish minimizes damping for unfettered resonance. It ships in a Taylor AeroCase.

Just as the Grand Pacific body shape introduced a new kind of seasoned tone to the Taylor line, the AD27e Flametop brings a new sonic flavor with an earthy, broken-in character. This dreadnought-style guitar boasts back, sides and top of solid Big Leaf maple, with our V-Class bracing under the hood. Combined with nickel bronze strings from D'Addario, the maple construction results in an appealingly rustic sound that's totally distinct from the pristine, vibrant quality that many players associate with Taylor. Visually, the AD27e Flametop offers a rootsy, workmanlike vibe that fits right in with its siblings in the American Dream Series, with maple's beautiful figuring complemented by a dusky Woodsmoke finish and a satin sheen. It's available both with and without ES2 electronics and ships in a lightweight, super-sturdy AeroCase.
