The Eastman E10OOSS/V Varnish Antiqe Classic Antique Varnish Series guitars are built on a mix of time-honored craft and ahead-of-the-curve thinking utilizing classic technique with a decidedly fresh approach. It is designed to make such a rare and labor-intensive feature more available to guitar enthusiasts, with the proof in the distinctive look and sound. The process itself, features six distinct steps starting with a basecoat application to fill the grain, then moving to color application, and concluding with a French polish. Ultimately, three or four coats of material are applied and sanded thin. Eastman's Double Top Series feature an innovative take on the classic flat top design. With a unique modification to their top tonewoods, these guitars are more resonant, responsive, and feature better note clarity and balance. The Double Top models feature a pair of one-millimetre-thin spruce slices that are adjoined by Nomex. The latter is a honeycomb-like resinous substance – patented by DuPont – that was originally designed for use in the aerospace industry. It functions as a rigid wall between the two spruce pieces, adding on layers of density and depth. Yet, the added density does not compromise the guitars’ lightness and sonic range. Martin has built the worlds finest ukuleles since 1916, and tenor ukes since 1929 that have long been prized for their full-bodied voice and great volume. The C1K concert-sized model features top, back and sides crafted of solid Hawaiian koa, a wood native to Hawaii and a favorite of island players.
