Silver Street Taxi Electric Travel Guitar

Silver Street, Inc. was incorporated in June 1979, started by Bruce and Craig Hardy. Apparantly it was named after the street where Bruce Hardy lived at the time. Bruce Hardy designed the Taxi Guitar in 1981 featuring a full scale, and shipped with a gig bag that allowed it to be transported in a NY City taxi. The Taxi's innovative design was the subject of a U.S. patent application filed in 1981, granted in 1983. Five prototypes were built by legendary luthier Richard Schneider, who was a Gibson guitar consultant at the time. Production of solid-body guitars started in 1983, and ended by 1986. A bit of history about the Taxi model. The first guitar made for Tommy Shaw was in "Pepto Bismol" Pink, and later a Tommy Shaw model ws built. Guitar who played the Taxi include Paul Warren fomr Prism, Mike Reno from Loverboy, Michael Stanley, Chris Hayes of Huey Lewis and the News, Craig Chaquico of Jefferson Starship, and Rick Springfield who bought three and actually used one on an MTV video. 25. Guild Starfire SF-4 1997
    Sold

    Guild Starfire SF-4 1997

The double cutaway Starfire series was introduced in late 1963 beginning with the Starfire IV and Starfire V. The Starfire VI followed in 1964. These guitars were made to capture part of the market that was almost exclusively enjoyed by the Gibson ES series guitars. Like the Gibson ES-335, the Starfire IV has a center block of wood that runs from the neck to the tail and is glued to the top and back. This reduces feedback and increases sustain. Up through 1967 the neck was joined to the body at the 16th fret. After 1967, the neck-to-body joint was moved to the 18th fret to facilitate better access to the upper registers. Learn More
