This is a 2010 Gilchrist Model 4jr Full specs are as follows: Red spruce soundboard Maple back sides & neck from the "D Log" 2 piece back Spirit varnish natural Ebony fingerboard Pearl nut / 1-3/32" wide Engraved logo Ebony binding Hand engraved hinge tailpiece Golden Age tuners w/pearl buttons Cam clamp pickguard fastener Scale length 13.9" The Maple for this instrument come from the "D log" which Gilchrist hand picked. Gilchrists from the D log are highly prized by collectors and players. Gilchrist actually held back this instrument for his personal use and it was extensively used by noted mandolinist Chris Thile on session with Punch Brothers in spring/summer 2014.
