Breedlove RD/NH 1993:
Price: Sold
Used/New: Used     Condition: Very Good
Description: This guitar was built in 1993 and is one of the first hundred or so guitars built by the Breedlove Guitar Company. Back then the company was made up of only Larry Breedlove, and Steve Henderson, both master craftsmen. In fact this guitar was one the first RD (Rounded Dreadnaught) models.
This guitar features all solid construction of course with select fully bound Mahogany body with Naturally aged Spruce soundboard, one-piece Mahogany neck, 25.5" scale, 1-¾" bone nut, gold Schaller Mini tuners, factory under-saddle pickup, and the original Breedlove guitar bracing system.
For those of you that are not familiar with this bracing system, it consists of scalloped bracing, graduated top thickness, and the JLD Bridge Truss System. The bracing is deeply scalloped on the bass side and further stiffened on the treble side with great balance in the midrange. The graduated top thickness, thin on the bass side and thickening on the treble side, allows the guitar to more fully resonate. The final piece of the bracing system is the JLD Bridge Truss System. This devise is a small cedar post that attaches under the bridge and has a dowel rod that rests against the tail block inside the body. Acting as a cantilever to counteract the string tension exerted on the top. Use of this Bridge Truss System results in superior top strength and lightness, and an increase in the resonance and sustain of the instrument. The unique asymmetrical pin-less bridge translates into a direct transfer of energy from the strings to the top of the guitar through the saddle.
All this combined make for an outstanding acoustic guitar indeed. In fact out of the hundreds and hundreds of guitars I’ve had the pleasure of playing, no one brand can come closer to that piano quality than Breedlove, and this one is no exception.
This one has been played and has some small scuffs here and there mainly behind the bridge from changing strings, but there are no structural issues at all. This guitar has aged beautifully and will need nothing.
The sound is big and beautiful, with clean crisp highs, and a bone jarring bass response. The action is set medium low with one of the most comfortable necks I have ever experienced.
It is signed on the label, and under the soundboard by both Larry Breedlove, and Steve Henderson.
This is truly an outstanding instrument, one that will only go up in value.
It comes with original case which has a few scuffs but is solid as a rock.
